Charla’s Journey to Optimal Health Practices
Charla grew up in California, where she faced persistent gastrointestinal issues from an early age. Despite her ongoing discomfort, Western medicine was unable to provide a diagnosis or effective treatment for her symptoms. She recounted her experience by saying,
"I wasn't sick enough for Western medicine, but I wasn't well."
This period of uncertainty and unresolved health concerns marked the beginning of her journey toward understanding wellness beyond conventional approaches.
As Charla continued to struggle with her health, she dedicated many years to classical training with the aspiration of becoming a ballerina. Her commitment to dance led her to study anatomy in depth so she could better comprehend how her body functioned as her instrument for dance. In 1988, Charla was involved in a car accident, which introduced her to acupuncture as a form of care. This experience opened a new perspective on health and ignited a passion to share her discoveries with others.
Following her move to Florida, Charla began her formal journey in the health field by becoming a massage therapist, during which she worked closely with chiropractors and specialized in injury care. She also pursued an acupuncture license, further expanding her expertise. Through orthopedic studies and a focus on nutrition, Charla developed a comprehensive approach to health care.
Throughout her journey, Charla has developed a belief that no one practitioner can specialize in all things. Therefore, she has compiled a wide-ranging list of referrals. This philosophy is key to developing and offering new services and therapies at Oak Healing Center. Her vision for the Center is to combine modern medicine with ancient healing techniques to unlock the body’s natural healing abilities and foster sustainable and practical avenues of health.
